CONvergence Online: The Halftime Report

We are now roughly 50% of the way through the first CONvergence Online experience. For something that started up only a couple of weeks ago, it’s been pretty successful. I had a successful view party for Star Trek: Lower Decks on Thursday night (with an encore last night as someone showed up having gotten the wrong night and I really had nothing better to do), and it looks like the convention’s panels so far have been as engaging as their live iterations.

And now from the Home Office in Minneapolis, MN, we have the top 10 things I DON’T miss from regular-flavor CONvergence

10: People blatantly flouting the 6-2-1 rule

9: Trying to fit ten pieces of luggage into a Mini Cooper

8: Hearing everybody shout “I FOUND HIM!” upon seeing a Waldo cosplayer

7: Seeing a cosplayer and not knowing what two anime she’s mashing up

6: Doing a cosplay and having no one be able to guess what I’m cosplaying (it’s Bitch Planet!)

5: Getting in an exceptionally long line for rice at the consuite

4: Getting to the head of the exceptionally long line to discover that that sesame seed rice seasoning I really like is out

3: Missing my besties because they’re at Cosplay 101 at the same time my fanfiction panel is running

2: Having to choose between making that panel I REALLY wanted to make and grabbing a quick run through the dealer room

And the #1 thing I don’t miss from regular-flavor CONvergence:

Getting the Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy, everybody, and see you in person at CONvergence 2021!
