Happy PocketQuest 2022!

DriveThruRPG.com opened sales from their PocketQuest RPG game jam today!

Starting in June, over the last 2 months I have been writing, polishing, and playtesting my own roleplaying game, and now I’m proud to announce the release of the Roller Derby Road Trip, a complete, 20-page roleplaying game using a GMless, collaborative, storytelling-first system.

Major Threat (they/them) breaks out of the pack.

Roller Derby Road Trip is ON SALE NOW!
Happy Bookday to me!

It’s been a journey. I’ve been excited about the idea of designing a new game from scratch forever, and I’m so glad that I can finally get this out of my head and onto paper. Holding the final draft in my hand, fresh off the printer was a reminder of the reason I’m a writer, the reason I went to grad school in the first place: Being able to create things that other people will read and expand on their own.

I am taking a breath from this act of creation today, but there’s more coming. This game took several years and several false starts to finally get from beginning to completion, and it’s got more in it. The existing text is just twenty small pages including many, many photos by the inestimable Paul “Preflash Gordon” Robertson (and others by Creative Commons and other licenses), and it most definitely has more room to breathe.

I wanted to celebrate two of the most important influences in my life: Roller derby and roleplaying games, by bringing them together. I would like to think I’ve succeeded.
