Don’t Call Them Poorly Dressed: An Update
At the dawn of my blog, I wrote a nice little list article about my feelings about the many Twins jerseys that they’ve had over the duration of the franchise.
I still kinda like that article. I don’t know what the Minnesota Twins think about it, or if they’ve even noticed it. We are nearly to the end of an absolutely disastrous 2021 season for a team that at the end of week 1 seemed like a clear World Series contender but immediately thereafter absolutely dropped off the face of the map, and never really found its footing.
With the season winding toward golfing in October, though, an article showed up on the Twins’ website about how the Twins’ starting pitchers choose the day’s uniforms. And it intrigues me because the uniform that I like the least out of the current uniforms - the red jersey with matching red cap - is the consensus favorite among the Twins’ current starting pitchers.
Michael Pineda says it gives him more confidence to pitch in it because red is his favorite color.
Randy Dobnak says that he likes it because there’s only one collar button, making it easier to show off his chest hair.
Griffin Jax wears navy blue a lot, because he says the baby blue homes don’t fit him well.
And all of them want the cream pinstripes to come back.
With all that said… I still like the navy blue home the best. I think it holds up really well in the looks department, even if the guys who take the field in it think they’d rather wear red.
Oh well!
For one more week, play ball! And after that… well it’s just three more months till pitchers and catchers report.
